Our work in manufacturing innovation
"Innovating around the manufacture of consumer products is hard. Process complexity, health and safety controls, and the burden of a legacy installed base all present difficulties. Yet, the sector must adapt to rapidly evolving trends and demands. The forces at play include sustainability (water and energy), changing the route to market, and a greater need for flexible and agile supply chains. The response requires holistic thinking to define a framework for innovation."

Let's meet to discuss product innovation
Manufacturing innovation R&D focus areas and expertise:
Bioprocessing promises to deliver more sustainable routes to some commodity ingredients, greater supply chain resilience, and de-risk sourcing. Importantly, it also has the potential to deliver novel functionalities and enhanced compounds and materials.
At Sagentia Innovation, we have deep expertise in beverage innovation. Whether the focus is on filling technologies, gasification systems, product safety, or CIP, we have a strong track record that leverages our uniquely multidisciplinary approach.
Preserving FMCG products is critical for safe delivery to consumers and reducing waste. However, reliance on chemistry and thermal processes is increasingly being scrutinised due to their environmental footprint. We have expertise which can enable the application of lower energy and natural chemistry to deliver product shelf life.
Product freshness is critical in food and beverage but also applies more widely across FMCG. We work on some of the sector's toughest challenges to build solutions that enable minimal processing of ingredients but ensure product safety and quality, whether through enhanced plant breeding, quality control systems or minimally intensive approaches to mitigate contamination.
A continuous source of innovation is developing novel product formats that deliver convenience, ease of use, performance, and sustainability requirements. At Sagentia Innovation, we can step through the development of new value propositions to conceptualising new product formats and into their development and scale-up.

Trends in manufacturing innovation:
Bioprocessing is attracting interest and support across FMCG because it promises to help with sustainability and increase supply chain resilience. Sustainability, particularly water and energy consumption, is driving the evolution of manufacturing and entire supply chains. Other drivers include cost, regulation, and consumer demand. Enablers include technology advances, system-level change, and the design of manufacturing assets with better agility and flexibility. Agility in manufacturing requires the development of a holistic framework where the core processing, ingredient handling, and filling and packaging are considered together in the context of a continuously changing external environment. A shift to strategic investment in major advancement rather than short-term incremental evolution of processes is required if sustainability, regulatory and consumer demands are to be met.
